Giving at St Swithun's
We are funded almost completely by the voluntary donations of church members, other residents of Bathford and visitors. This takes the form of money placed in collections at services, regular Standing Orders directly into our bank account, specific donations and also bequests. Occasionally we are able to obtain grants for specific work or repairs, but this is a very small part of our income. We encourage Church members to pledge each year how much they plan to give so that we can effectively plan our finances. Click here for a stewardship response form.
Our income is significantly enhanced by the use Gift Aid, whereby we can claim back the tax paid on donations from UK taxpayers (for each £1 received from donors we can currently claim an extra 25p from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs). Gift Aid envelopes are available in the church for this purpose. Gift Aid forms can be downloaded here and can also be obtained from the Stewardship Secretary.
Many regular worshippers give via Standing Order or Envelope scheme. If you would like more information about this, please speak to one of the church wardens or download one of the standing order forms here.
Recent bequests have allowed projects to go ahead which would have been difficult to fund from regular income. For more information about wills and bequests please contact the treasurer.
Donations to other Charities:
We give away 10% of our regular income each year to mission partners and charities. In 2011 this was £7,000. We also raise money (in 2011 this was £1,700) from collections, lunches, concerts and other events for other charities.
