Mission 09

The PCC has decided that in 2009 we will hold a mission to the parish. We hope that there will be a number of outreach events going on over the next couple of years in preparation. The first of these will be Back to Church Sunday on 30th September.

The South West Ministry Training Course

The South West Ministry Training Course is starting again on 20th Sept. The course follows school term dates and runs from 10am to 3.30pm on Thursdays at St Bartholomew's Church, Oldfield Park.The course is built on an approach to the Bible which sees it as the living and authoritative word of God through which God speaks to call his people to himself and to guide and rule his church today. It is suitable for all whatever your knowledge of the Bible and is a great chance to spend time with God and fellow Christians. Delhi – here we come.

Preparations for our visit to the Trilokpuri Clinic are going well and keeping us busy, vaccinations, visa applications and team meetings etc. However, we have been asked to help fund the project that we will be undertaking. Please support the Bric a Brac & Barbeque on Saturday 15th September 1pm to 4pm. by helping on a stall, tombola, raffle, books and cakes. Saleable items for the Bric a Brac tables to Mo and Sid Rice, other donations to Martin. Please see the pink elephant for details. Many thanks.

Friends and Heroes

Friends and Heroes, a UK produced animated adventure series for children featuring amazing 3D Bible Stories completed its first broadcast on the BBC's CBBC channel in March 2007. The Series is now to be broadcast on the BBC2 terrestrial television channel during the Autumn of 2007 and the 1st episode will run on Tuesday 11th at 10.45 am. It will entertain, educate and inform the audience, introducing a new generation, to the stories of the Old and New Testament. For more details see www.friendsandheroes.com

Living for God at Work.

An event is to be held in Bath on Wednesday 17th October from 7.30pm to 10.00pm. This is a special event from Care for the Family and will explore the big questions many Christians face: Why am I here? Am I in the right job? What does God want for my life? Circuit of Bath Walk.

Prayer on Sundays

There will be short prayer meeting at 9.40 am in the upper room each Sunday to pray for the morning service and for the children and young peoples groups meeting that morning. Everyone is welcome to come along.

Toddler Hour

Toddler’s starts again on Monday at the church in the upper room. We have moved the start time to 10am so that we can finish by 11.30 so everyone can get to Pepperpot who needs to. We completely understand that with sleeps etc timing can be difficult so please come whenever it suits you/or you can get there. Please pass the word on to anyone you may know who might like to come - Everyone is welcome.

Scubed (14 to 18) Autumn Programme 2007

September 8 ‘The roar of the grease paint, the smell of the crowd’. Recreate those long-gone days of cinema when under the expert direction of Tim and cinema pianist Ros, you will be sent out into Bathford to produce short video films on a theme announced on the day. Please bring any spare video cameras and EQUITY card.

September 22 A night hike starting at 15 Barnfield Way, under the expert direction of Kevin McLeod. Bring strong shoes or boots, sensible clothes and sufficient energy to carry Michael.

September 30th CY Sunday Evening’s start up again

October 6 He said what? Mime, sketches, montage & sgarrettchino. Come & learn more. At the home of Ros Ling & friend.

Thursday 11 October Confirmation Service at St Bartholomew’s

October 13 Now that’s what I call music! Back by popular demand, an evening of musical opinion and analysis with former lead guitarist of the 80’s rock band ‘Missing – presumed having a good time’ Steve Fingers Chilcott.

October 28 CY Sunday evening

Thursday October 31 Scubed to act as bouncers, crowd control and auntie frighteners for the children’s Light Party.

November 3 Arty evening at Michael and Joy’s. Please bring artist’s smock, sunflowers and any ears not previously cut off.

November 17 Bring & Share supper. Bring any old rubbish in the hope that others will share something better. At the Craine’s.

November 25 CY Sunday evening

December 8 Come and meet a seasonal Mystery guest….. might it be the diocesan sub-warden for ongoing consolidation, litigation and things? Lets hope so!

December 15 Scubed Summer Party postponed from July. Venue to be announced in January.

Tower open day

The Bell Tower will open on Sunday 23rd September from 2:00-4:30pm. An opportunity to see the bells being rung, and climb to the top to see the beautiful views. Are you looking for a new hobby or pastime? Then come along and have a go. New ringers very welcome. Tuition given by experienced ringers. Cream Teas available in the Church from 2:00-4:30pm.
